Bad timing.

Hey guys, having a little issue with my PC.

If I'm in a game for a while (or graphic intensive program like furmark) the monitor will go black (get put in sleep mode), the sound from everyting not including the aplication i was in will continue for about 5 seconds and stop. Then the PC locks up and I have to manually start it.

Chkdsk and memory test both are fine so I'm guessing its either my PSU or my GPU, would anyone be able to narrow it down or anything? Kinda desperate to get it fixed before I head to the LAN at 3am. I also wondering if anyone is bringing spare parts thatI might be able to borrow over the LAN if I don't get it fixed.

Check things like ram timings, I also recommend running Memtest for a few hours to make sure your ram is OK. I don't personally have any decent spares but there is a good shop in town which I can take you to if required.

What happens if you run furmark? Also have you updated your drivers recently? If so, try a roll back. If not, try an update :)

I have install media for most things if we narrow it down to an OS issue. :)

Cheers Dex, I had an issue where if i ran furmark for about 20 minutes, the screen would go to sleep mode, and i wouldnt be able to wake the machine up.. It was the sort of lockup that Pressing Capslock and numlock didn't change the light on the keyboard. regardless, I did a memtest for a couple of hours and nothing was wrong.

I tried the old, take everything out, vacuum it, plug it back in approach and ran furmark for an hour without a problem, possibly fixed but I'll wait until the LAN to be certain.
