You'll want to check to see what loads when you startup then.

msconfig or autoruns! autoruns is an amazing app that gives you complete detail of whats starting up with your computer.

I'm not that daft i've always been on top of what programs run on startup editing as required with msconfig and even before that with windows 98 :s

I just blame vista for being rubbish. It should boot as fast as the xbox.. even if that got slower.
