Who else has heard of this?
By the sound of things its bringing a lot of the features that made CS1.6 great over to the source engine. I personally think it looks really sweet, the HUD looks especially nice.

The latest beta has just been released - 1.04

CS died ages ago, people still playing it just haven't been willing to give anything newer a fair try or don't have a pc capable of running anything newer. I do the odd game of source if i see others playing but its just so simple, akin to people still playing q3. Simple graphics make it easier to spot your target and thats dull :p

CSS takes much more skill then COD4, for example.

I play both, and where as in CSS you need pin point headshots, in COD4 you just shoot at a wall until some one dies.

Or camp.

I do agree with you there about CoD4 and even MW2 - A lot of the time I die it's due to people spraying walls a lot. I always though bullet penetration was a bit high even without FMJ.

Not skill, practice.. :p

The majority of the CS maps are very simple (and thus perfect for competitive matches) and from my own experiences in the past you do most of your "aiming" by knowing instinctively where to be looking before the enemy turns up, only been thrown out slightly if you have to spin to avoid being blinded. This is highlighted by the fact that it only seems to take a few maps to get back to playing at a fairly average level after not playing for many months, if you know where to aim to start with the very pin point accuracy gets back not too long after. I played fairly competitively between 1.2-1.6 and knew a fair few people that went on to try their hand at european (and one worldwide) cs competitions so its not purely based on random thoughts.

Not played cod4 for anything but a bit of fun but at least its slightly more immersive with the graphics.

All in all a fairly pointless discussion anyway as people will play it and people will hate it. I got sick of the ego's in the wannabe pro gamers and now just play very casually and prefer games that are pretty and immersive over balanced team play  , there's only so much time you can stare at the same wall on dust2 before it starts to get imprinted on your retina. This is where the small lans are great as it generally is attended by the average gamer who just wants to have fun.

to be honest i havnt read anything anyones posted atm, css was sik in its day and its still huge in the competative scene, big events still on the go. someone tells me the promod is there to unite css community and its just going to split it more ... i dont know enough to say any more.
as for cod4 the competative scene is fucking booming atm, huge events coming this year, new maps and everything, prize money and sponsers are huge.
but in the end everyone has their own game they love and ill stick by cod4 regardless atm :D
PS CSS DOES NOT REQUIRE MORE SKILL WHEN YOUR PLAYING 5 V 5 S&D (which is pretty much how css is played) it just varies more imo, with the cash idea its just a bit more varied. promod in cod4 makes the game more balanced, no insane wallbangs with shitty guns, no killing someone with 1 shot in the toe etc etc etc, i could dfend it til the day i die xD

PPS Quake owns!

Just on that note, I thrashed Skull 100 kills to 1 on Quake 3. Shit was lulz.

That's not entirely accurate, The score was 100-1 at the end, but I did get about 4 or 5 kills in, but I had a habit of either blowing myself up with a rocket or jumping from a high platform with low health =P
