Guild Wars 2 Beta Signup

A good number of us played the original guild wars back in the old PK days. I could imagine that a purchase once MMORPG would be kind to the wallet and soul for most of us

About 24 hours left to signup if you haven't done so already.

nice one, was looking around for the beta sign up, hopefully this won't be as disappointing as SWTOR ended up being.

COuld get a Breach guild on the go I guess. If we do go for that, if anyone from my guild on WoW wished to join would that be cool with you guys?

Don't see why not Fenris - Always room for more peoples, also 12 hours(ish) left on beta signups

Awesome, I don't mind setting the guild up and getting it going once I've got the invite (provided no one else gets in there first). I'm certainly more than happy to make the guild for the full release (I'm most likely getting it :p)

Since we are going with a BreachLAN guild I'm going to have to sorta pull rank on you there and insist that one of the staff members are made the boss - but if the structure is anything like the original guild wars then we will need some officers to help keep things running smoothly. :) Hate to sound so boring lol!

whats the problem with having community guild heads? I'm pretty sure that the guild can have multiple leaders...

As far as i can tell with the press beta, the "guilds" aren't so focused in GW2, the way PVP works is there is three factions, red blue green i believe. You fight for control over strongholds and supply depots, then after a week, month whatever the eventual time is, the map will be reset, and according to your group's performance you will be moved up and down a ladder, who your group is paired with next also depends on the activity, so a group in the UK who are active 98% of the time 6:00pm to 9:00pm will not be paired with an american group, which are more active 1:00am to 4:00am UK time.

Whether or not groups of people are guilds, i don't know, with the few press beta's i have watched you could join any random battlefield and play with a random side, so possibly this World V world will have nothing to do with guilds?

It's called World v World PvP.

What it does is it pits Servers versus Server versus Server (so a 3 way battle).

Guilds play a very important role due to being more organised and there's also a great thing you can do with guilds in that if you take a keep as a guild, you can effectively claim it for your guild and do a lot more guild orientated stuff from that keep for as long as you hold it. Also in regards to the ranking system, it takes your server as a whole and based on how you do each reset determines where your server will go so servers who aren't as good face servers who aren't as good and the good ones against the good.

Also, no worries about the guild set up thing, was just cause I'm an officer in my own guild in WoW so have experience with that sorta shite :p

so is a server area based? AKA NE scotland, SW scotland etc? or is it chosen? or has that not been confirmed yet?

There's basically one place in Europe that'll house all the servers for Europe, there'll likely be English/French/German language servers, but other than that you choose which server you play on, very much like any other MMO out there.

Generally, in the way an MMO works (and im basing this on WoW, Dex however knows the original GW) you have one single guild leader, and then multiple officers, the same way in eve we have the CEO and then multiple Directors.
The thing with having a breach guild and a staff member as leader just stops any unnecessary arguments about who should be in charge etc.
