LAN Cafe

Place has been out of business ages mate.

LAN / Internet cafe's simply cant work in the UK. The cost of everything professionally is so high that I physically can not see how any of them can make any profit. They fail at such an astronomical rate that most bank's wont even listen to your business plan and even if they do, they will only loan you one pound for every ten of your own that you commit. Thats how high the failure rate is for lan cafe's. (Source: Zharodum)

The biggest example of UK failure is OmegaSektor in Birmingham. To give you an idea of how big a failure that was, in order to BREAK EVEN - It had to be at 100% capacity for 95% of the time it was open. It never made a profit, and never would have in a million years.

The LAN cafe idea simply has no potential to make money in the UK. The cost of hardware is just too high. The only way I could possibly see it making any money whatsoever would have been to use 360's where the hardware is considerably cheaper and doesnt need updating anywhere near as often.

Then again.........you have to pay retail for all the games.

Never stood a chance mate.

Another nail in the lan café coffin is that pretty much everyone has broadband these days so there's no need to go out to game. Even if it is meeting up with friends.

I went to the LAN Café a few times and some of their tournament nights but it was quite pricey and the atmosphere wasn't quite what you get at a proper LAN.
