Quite shocking really, I wonder if the 0.2% increase in profits to copyright holders will be worth it :(

Just got an email from SNP's Aberdeen North candidate. Checked it out, was not sent from a mailing list, or mass mailer.

Dear Sion

Like many others I am aghast that the Digital Economy Act was voted
through at
the tail-end of a Parliament "through the usual channels". This shows how
antiquated the Westminster Parliament is and I do believe that this Act
must be revisited. If elected, I will certainly support any moves to look
at this again as the powers that have been granted to the copyright
holders are draconian.

The SNP will remain loyal to that stance as long as the record company lobbies aren't offering them any donations. If they do expect that to change very quickly. Salmond is a corrupt fat ****.

Just ask Donald Trump, that golf course got approved mighty quickly against popular local consensus after a few meetings with ol Alex. Democracy hard at work.

Makes me glad that an SNP vote is wasted in this constituency anyway.:p

Hehe trump towers.... the environment really matters until someone comes along with a truck load of cash!

Same goes for this digital bill, it's a shame my constituency doesn't have a green or pirate party candidate as they are fundamentally for a change in the 200 year old copyright laws.

Again it would be a wasted vote anyway.

Nick Clegg has been saying lots of rhetoric against the digital economy bill but I'm yet to see him say he'd reverse it given the opportunity.

Dear Ms Duncan

Thank you very much for your recent email on the Digital Economy Bill.

You will be aware by now that the Digital Economy Bill completed its Parliamentary stages. There was a full debate on the Bill and I voted in favour of it. I did that because I supported the majority of the issues in the Bill. On the controversial issues about which you have written, I did have a conversation with Government Ministers and let them know that I was uncomfortable with the disconnection. I know that other colleagues made the same representations. The Bill went through its processes on a shortened procedure with the agreement of the major parties because of the calling of the election but the statement was made by the Government that controversial areas will require regulation (the Bill simply enables these regulations to be made) and these will be conducted by what is called a “super affirmative” procedure which will allow a full debate and vote on the regulations before they are approved. Although an accelerated procedure was raised, the House of Commons will pay full attention to the implementation of the measures.

In the meantime, I have sent a copy of your email to the Secretary of State so that he is aware of your views.

Also, could he use a big enough font? And he's never getting my vote if he voted in-favour of that bill.

At least someone is. God help me this is just one more thing making me think the EU is the only counterweight against corruption and general stupidity in our government.
