From a purely aesthetic point of view, I'd go with the other Acer due to the thinner frame :) And also because I'm an Acer fanboi :P

Agreed, 2 is better than 1 (and yeah, that's what she said :P). Works best if they're identical, try and get monitors with as small a frame as possible to keep the centre gap at a minimum. :)
