Couldn't have happened at a worse time. The motherboard has an onboard checker for the RAM and it boots the pc and says it's ok. Tested different combinations of RAM in different slots but the same problem. Tried resetting the the bios to default options, although pretty much everything was default anyway, no overclocking at all.

My mouse/keyboard won't work when booting up with the Windows disc so haven't been able to try if a repair will work, will get a normal keyboard today to test with. If those don't work the only thing I can think of is try and get hold of/buy a motherboard & processor to test with.

Don't suppose anyone has spares lying about ?

My heart goes out to the both of you. There's nothing worse than having no PC over Xmas. Hope you both get it all sorted.
