in the end it only took a few hours, changed the download location to poland and was getting 200kb/s compared to the uk's 6kb/s at that time

Played through it this morning. Not going to spoil it but the level design is somewhat meh.

It's far too easy to get lost and to have no idea where to go next. A sign of bad level desgin which has reared its ugly head more than once during L4D2 (that stupid sugar farm and the swamp being the other examples)

I disagree.

I thought the level design was great. It's shorter than I would have liked and there's way to many pills but it's obvious valve listened to the criticism they got for making the other levels too bright and open.

I found my way about pretty easily. Also just to rub it in it took me about 10 minutes to download it this morning. lol

Guys, just to let you know that there was another update today so make sure you get it before the this mini lan tomorrow or you'll land up wasting game time trying to get it.

Ok guys, here is all the info you should need for tomorrow.

Aim to arrive between 10:30 and 11am. Don't arrive earlier than that because things may not be ready. The LAN should be over by 8pm and will definately be over by 9pm.

You should take your own network cables as I don't have many. Try to take your own cable that is about 3m long. If you have one or two extras then please can you take them as well, just incase anyone else forgets or I dont have enough spares.

There is no need to do anything with your steam client. Leave it in whatever mode you normally use.

It's probably a good idea that you play the campaign a few times before tomorrow to learn the map layout. Also, there has been a patch released this morning (Saturday) so even if you have played it already, you need to start L4D2 again to make sure you have all the updates.

There is a kettle available for making drinks. Just take whatever you want. There's also a microwave if you want to make anything to eat.

We will hopefully be ordering pizza for delivery sometime in the evening. If you want to join in on this you will need to take cash to do so. If you don't want to order pizza dinner then do make sure to take yourself something else to eat that isnt junk food.

Parking is right beside the shop and completely free. Just make sure that when you arrive you park as far down the car park as possible. Park up on the gravel and squeeze as close to the other cars as possible. Try not to block the tarmacd part if possible, else you may have to move your car later to let staff from the band shop below to get out.

Use the side door of the shop. The front door will be locked and nobody will hear you banging on it.

If you have a mini fridge you want to take to keep your drinks cold thats all ok. Just let me know where you plug it in.

That should be everything you need to know. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Thanks for the lan guys, was nice to get out of the house for once. :p

All in all it was as balanced as could be hoped, l4d just seems to be one of those games where a bit of luck/timing can be the difference between epic win/fail. I'll try to redeem myself with some all round shooting etc at the next breach if i can make it. Forgot just how much a lan can smell :p
