Just for those who need a GFX card cheap and short notice find them here

They range from a 8800 GT Extreme 1GB Memory for £59.98, same price as a 8800 GTS with 512MB Memory to a 285 GTX 1GB for £145.00

The catch: all the gfx cards are Grade A OEM (not boxed) and have 3 months warranty

p&p depends on where you live and VAT

They'll be fine.
They're not ATi.
:D
Talking to one of my nVidia using friends last night.

"Yeah, my old card went up to 102c while I was gaming."

102c.

And another friend who's card was getting to 114c and shutting down.

And your card that gets much hotter then any of my 4XXX cards.

Etc.

102 is fine for graphics cards.

The trouble with checking temps is that people don't always know what it should be. They see a number and freak out about it without any thought as to if the number is invfact perfectly acceptable.

Aye, but just..

102?!

I know that's fine, but still.

If the cards are designed to run at these temperatures and do so stably, there is nothing wrong with 102
(haven't got there myself, but my card's seen the 90s, all was fine, no problems, it is built to cope with it...)

I'll survive in 30c heats.

I just don't like it.

I wont be surprised if this is on the box

cooking instructions: wrap in tinfoil and place on baking tray, cook at Gasmark 6 for 2hrs and cool for 1hr before use

It's bot just the temps. It's the context.

That temp on a hot day in a hot room with a badly wired, under load pc would be nothing to worry about.

That temp in a cool office on the desktop would be a serious fault.

my 8800GTX OC2 (clocked higher than the ultra) ran at about 85ish under max load :)

My 5850 runs at around 26 degrees idle, and 7 degrees when the room temp is around 3 degrees celcius ;)

Well just to keep the thread going my 5870 fizzled out at the lan.... Not overheating more of a ram thing, I now have a replacement which I have paid for again, It would seem that refunding your money isn't high on the list of prioritys for suppliers these days, oh well I have a couple of 8800gtx's and they run most games pretty well so a good sound investment for a year or so, but TRAB has burnt out 2 x GX2 cards on seperate occasions seems they didnt like running his 32" LG TV his motherboard soon died after that so probb a motherboard thing rather than a graphic card problem but either way both cards dead ! shame the gx2 ( 2x 8800gtx cards stuck together worked well ) but ATI cards and ASrock motherboards another headache ive yet to overcome

Hey Dada

Shame to hear about your 5870, I hear that Asus take their sweet time with warranty claims, I guess you bought another card to tide you over till you get your refund / replacement card?
