This is been a pain in our collective backsides for years. Seemingly EVERY BreachLAN, some Valve game get's a huge content patch and we have to run around like a group of nutters making sure only one person is downloading the game. Then sharing it around.

Please don't just click and sign. But please also share the link around. Facebook. Clan / Guild forums. See what we can do.

I'm going to be posting it to the Steampowered forums after this. Let's see if we can finally see an end to bloody Friday patches.

Getting some angry feed back from Clan match players......they have their opinions about it effecting their mid-week clan matches.

I quote "What about people that play clan matches during the week?, people disconnecting then reconnecting just to find out there an update and stops them from reconnecting to the clan game they were in. Updates can happen anytime they want to release it, out of the 4 million people its affecting what a few thousand people ?, Valve wont do anything to change it, as it will get to the point where they wont release an update because it affects everyone on EVERY day."

to a certain extent I do agree with him....millions of people play, it only effects a few thousand on a Friday evening....... as much as I'd love it to be changed some how (and I have signed the petition) I cannot see Valve ever changing this no matter how hard we try.

Why not just set a cut off date a few days/a week in advance of the event? - your game must be up to date until the specified time, then you right click the game > Properties > Updates > Do not update this game.

I've never set a game to not update, so I don't know if this would work or not.

Yea I read. Tard-Wolf has a point but the way he said it makes him look like an absolute prick. Generally he get's away with that attitude for his Unreal Tournament responsibilities but I'd have slapped some good manners into him years ago if I was allowed to.

He does have a point though. But a well publicized "Patches are released on Tuesdays" policy would satisfy everyone. Won't ruin LAN's and generally keep prime Friday evening and Weekend time available for gaming.

Its did affect the summer LAN last year really bad, also because i had a ton of games i hadn't been able to install, but when TF2 updates and you cant reconnect and then EVERYTHING Has to get shut down for an update... well its annoying.

I would say anything during the week would be good, and clan matches should have a "no updating past etc" policy or something, and if this cant be changed from fridays, i say we look into setting a no update's past date for each LAN, maximizing game time :)

This wouldn't work.

It won't update the game automatically but when it actually came to launch the game then it will check and download any updates. It would just make the problem worse.

Darn, didn't think of that.
At RGU LANs we just patch until designated time, then set to offline, since we don't have an internet connection at the LAN it doesn't matter, but that's not gonna work here.

Time to sign the petition then.
