I've got in touch with the person organising the teams for the new series and got an email in response, more information here:
Thank you for getting in touch. If you let me know a contact number and a convenient time to call, I will be happy to chat through the process of the show with you, and also get some more details about your team.
I am looking to cast 6 teams, of 3 people in each team. The team can be made up of family, friends or work colleagues. All team members should know each other well and have good dynamics. You don’t have to be a gamer, or a historian, but an interest in gaming and battles would be an advantage. A sense of fun, tactical thinking and good team work will also be essential.
There is no application form, and over the next month, I will be travelling round the UK meeting interested teams.
Time Commanders is back for a 3rd series, after almost a decade of being on our screens. A decade on, the popular Historical Military Strategy series, is back with all new battles, game play engines, and touchscreen technology, with Creative Assembly’s gameplay simulator Total War still at the heart of the show. In each episode, our teams will go head to head with our computer simulator, pre-programmed, by our battle historians, before taking on each other using key weapons from the battle era.
We will meet our 2 teams in our mission control warehouse. A giant screen will project all of the battle’s action as it unfolds, while individual transparent CSI-style touch screens will allow the players to interact with the gameplay and give orders. Our regular historian, aided by a guest expert, who is a specialist in the battle’s period will give the battle context, ie, why is this happening, where have the two sides come from, and what are they fighting over.
Each team will allocate roles to their members. One will be the General with the overview of the battlefield, while the other two team members will be Captains taking control of the different units at their interactive screens. The team will also learn about weapons used during the era of the battle.
The first team will battle while the 2nd team look on, before swapping positions.
After each team have played their individual battle, it will be time for the teams to battle each other, but before they begin they will have the chance to change roles within their team. It will be up to team members to decide whether they should risk changing dynamics and letting someone else be in charge for the first time in the main battle.
If you have any other queries please do not hesitate to get in touch.
