Yay maybe this patch will help dex's framerate, and mine (played 10minutes last night in electro and was completely lagged out)

i will try and keep u guys uptodate with all the latest patches etc this patch came out last night at 8:30 it says it recommends the beta patch which i will recommend too after playing on both the 1.70 is better less lag etc and fps is so much better the only thing is there is not alot of servers at the moment running the beta 1.70 but for the servers that are it is so much better i logged in this morning to and from loggin in to playing ingame took me under 2

I've been playing on non beta servers through the beta, it does work, it's just dependant on the version of dayZ that's running. Myself and Shaggy tend to play on UK7 a lot of the time which is a beta server so just a heads up on that :p

been playing this quite alot with some american buddys, currently rocking a m4a1, colt 1911, also have the very rare GPS and Toolkit, entranchment kit, sandbags and also have a backup g17 in my Alice backpack.

Ive found rarer guns than the m4 such as the ak74 Kobra but due to the rarity of its ammunition ive not bothered with them

Seen as you have been playing a lot how do you find the new beta patch? Is it noticeably faster to join servers? Are they more stable and do they save your location and drink/hunger meter better?

I've noticed that the beta gives you much nicer graphics (imo), less fps drops and are generally more stable (unless you get a couple of people with the worst connections in the world that desync constantly, it causes server wide problems). As for the Food/Drink thing, you're supposed to run out of food and drink whilst logged out I believe :)

I think it's fine tbh, consider being offline as sleeping, you're still going to be hungry and thirsty in the morning IRL so I think it's fine in DayZ

However if you dont log in for months your character says in some sort of food and water deprived status.

And plus I logged in after not playing for a while and I was losing blood so I just logged off again.

Its not encouraging me to play more and it makes it seem more of a chore, like looking after your pet survivor. :mad:

Well, you just need to make sure to log out with food and drink each time, whether to log out overnight or over 2 weeks you'll still have the same blood level when you logged out, but you'll always be flashing red for food and drink bars, it's mostly there to make sure you're spending time scavenging for said food and drink. Drinks are easy as you get a water bottle and wells/pumps/lakes are plentiful, even in small towns, food is fairly common as well. I honestly think that it's working as intended and is actually a fairly good thing to have, it kinda makes the game more challenging.

and being "challenging" is not something that alot of new games do... i think this is a great game, making you work hard for the gear,food and water and not just holding your hand throughout like "Oh! you died! here let me re-spawn for you."

There's a fine line between challenging and annoying. And penalizing you for not logging in and playing everyday is well into the annoying side of things. I mean it's a good idea on paper maybe but certain real life practicalities get in the way. Some people have other things to do and can't pour three hours a night into the game. It's pretty dumb to have them get punished for that.

It's not so much punishing for not going on every day, it's just a "make sure you log out with food and water" type thing. The next time you log on, after a week or a day, you'll have the same levels of food and drink meters and blood left. I believe there's a 5 minute grace period or thereabouts for you to eat and drink after relogging in so honestly, I think the system is fine as is.

I would agree with tyr, you dont HAVE to log in (i havent played in a few days) as long a i logged out with food and water ill be great :p

Although not sure if this is fixed but, if you load up DAYZ in the wrong version and have red food and water bars then you drink and eat... then it'll tell you your running the wrong version and after you update to the newest version then your food and water bars go back to red :_( (and you lose your food and water)

Died twice cause of this, the third time i ran through forest till i got to cherno and by chance grogers found me and saved me...

Dont like the torch idea, its handy at night fair doos, but no use in the day and also its like as giant fuk-off "IM HERE KILL ME!" sign...
