Faster ram > more ram to an extent. Its limited by the resolution that you are going for. The higher the resolution (basically 1900x1200 upwards at full aa/af) makes more use of the extra memory, but the flip side is that the rest of the system might not actually be able to cope with all that...

heh. i loaded quakeworld and almost cried when i saw the graphics blown up on a 24" monitor. its just wrong and cannot be played. same would apply to doom.

i'm sure the standard cooler will be fine as its not a standard reference one. Personally i had considered getting the 1gb version of the 4870 but from what i had read 1920x1080 even with AA/AF on high settings wasn't that bad on the 512mb. Seems great so far but then i suppose that will only...

just saying i prefer the guitar hero world tour drum kit to the rock band one, even when playing rock band. . I've got some madcatz noise reducing sticks too but they are quite heavy and not so great for playing on harder difficulties (ie faster). Would be good to try with 2 bass pedals tho.

guitar hero world tour instruments with rock band 2 (with rock band 1 songs imported) is the way forward. (y). wouldn't dare take my instruments though as someone will no doubt find a way to break the drum kit.

Good morrow sirs. I know most of you consider ATI to be in bed with the devil due to past experiences but despite that i'm offering my trusty 512mb palit 4850 pcie card up for sale having moved up a little to a 4870 to run a bit more smoothly at 1920x1080. It is capable of those resolutions...

i-series is overrated unless you plan to meet lots of online peeps who are down south. went to i18 and it was a big expense and generally a bit crap. Smaller lans are the win.
